✨🧚♀️Celebrate 1 year of magic~

Step 1: THE INSPIRATION
There are different fairy vibes you can go for but the one I am going for is woodland forest fairy. I’m actually planning to use this theme for my daughter’s first birthday. I feel inspired by forests, moss, trees, mushrooms (especially the red ones), moths (including luna moths), butterflies, flowers, plants of all kinds, sparkles, lights, colours, children’s book illustrations that depict magical and whimiscal scenes…
I want the birthday theme to be MAGICAL, WHIMSICAL, DREAMY, GENTLE, AND EVOKE FEELINGS OF CHILDLIKE WONDER.
Here’s a collage of inspiration I created:

STEP 2: THE DECORATIONS
For decorations for this party I’m thinking faux moss, craft mushrooms, maybe little terrariums or glass jars, butterflies/moths, fairy lights, coloured streamers…
Here’s some inspiration for if I actually went all out but realistically I know it’s not going to look like this haha- aim high and land somewhere realistic!
If you’re wondering where to get these decorations- I would basically make a lot of them. Michaels Craft store sells faux moss and any dollarstore usually has little craft butterflies (and birds too), mushrooms, flowers. I stock up on hot glue gun glue and go wild with it.

STEP 3: THE FOOD & CAKE
I recommend just making a pinterest board on this and saving ideas. This is another thing where I find a really beautiful cake idea then realize there’s no way I’m actually going to be able to pull it off. So again, go wild with the inspiration and then choose something you’ll actually be able to do!
There are also a lot of different fairy-like snacks you can create- watermelon fairy house or wand for example. Think baby safe foods!

STEP 4: THE OUTFITS (of course there are outfits!)
Okay so obviously you need to dress like a fairy, as does your baby! If you have any male children they should be dressing like elves for this epic celebration! And your guests, if they aren’t willing to play along you can always have floral crowns all ready to go for when they arrive! They can’t say no if it’s already there, am I right?
I don’t really want to recommend fast fashion or places like Temu or Shein but to be honest for a one-use outfit like this… I’m probably getting mine from somewhere like that OR even better idea: a thrift store if I can find something that I can create my own out of (I like crafting and creating) and then just buy wings separately. I actually might use it twice: the cake smash + the party.
Here’s some inspiration for what I imagine for the outfits:

STEP 5: THE ACTIVITIES
Not every first birthday needs activities, depending on who is invited and what your guests would like to do. But if you have other older children who will be attending and you wanted some ideas for how to keep them busy then here are some ideas I’ve come up with:
- A fairy related scavenger hunt – could be nature things outside in the location of the party or things indoors, you could even do a fairy egg hunt (what’s a fairy egg? I have no idea)
- Fairy sensory bin for babies
- Make your own fairy house ( you can buy bird houses from the dollarstore and get them to paint or decorate them)
- Make or decorate your own fairy wand
- Decorate your own wings (use packing tape to create a sticky side out of cardboard wings and have them find items in nature to stick to them to decorate)
- Make fairy magic potions
- Play doh station with different magical and fairy-esque things to decorate/play with (ie sparkles, flowers, butterflies, etc)

STEP 6: HAVE FUN!
